Family of Florida accident victim may consider wrongful death

When motorcyclists have friends who also enjoy traveling by motorcycle, they may sometimes travel in groups. These groups are often more visible to other drivers than motorcyclists who may be traveling on their own. Because lone motorcyclists can be easily overlooked by drivers of larger vehicles, a fatal accident could take place, and a wrongful death claim from the victim’s family may result.

It was reported that a recent motorcycle accident in Florida led to the death of the operator. The report indicated that the motorcyclist was traveling east when a dump truck traveling west made a left turn onto an interstate ramp. The truck turned into the path of the motorcyclist, and a collision apparently occurred. The incident led to the person on the motorcycle being thrown off.

Sadly, fatal injuries were suffered by the motorcyclist, and the individual was declared dead at the scene. The driver of the dump truck initially did not remain on the scene due to being unaware that the accident took place. After hearing about the incident, however, he returned to the accident site. It was reported that charges stemming from the event are pending.

Because the accident led to a fatality, the family of the victim may have cause to pursue legal action against the driver considered at fault. A wrongful death claim could potentially be filed that may allow the family to seek compensation for damages resulting from the event. Information on filing such a claim in Florida may be helpful to the family as they work to determine whether this could be a viable course of action.
